At TrustyFans, we’re serious about protecting your identity and maintaining a safe, authentic community. Every creator goes through a thorough verification process before their account is approved, but despite our best efforts, some clever impersonators occasionally slip through.
If someone is pretending to be you, using your name, image, or content to mislead fans, it violates our guidelines and the trust we work hard to build. Here’s exactly what to do if you suspect someone is impersonating you on TrustyFans.
Note: Our investigation process typically takes anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on the complexity of the case. We appreciate your patience as we work to ensure a thorough and fair resolution.
Step 1: Confirm It’s Impersonation
Impersonation means someone is intentionally pretending to be you - not just creating similar content or using a common aesthetic.
You’re likely being impersonated if the profile:
- Uses your stage name, creator alias, or real name
- Displays your photos, videos, or branding without permission
- Is claiming to be you or actively misleading fans into thinking they are you
If it’s a case of stolen content (but not direct impersonation), you may need to file a DMCA Takedown Request - see the section below for more on that.
Step 2: Report the Profile to TrustyFans
If you’ve confirmed the impersonation, report it to our Trust & Safety team immediately.
How to report:
- Visit trustyfans.com/contact-us
- From the "Reason for Contacting Us" dropdown, select “Report Stolen Content”
- In the message, please include:
- A link to the impersonating profile
- A brief explanation of what’s being impersonated (e.g., name, photos, content)
- Proof that you are the real creator (links to your social media, content platforms, or other verified sources)
We’ll review your claim as quickly as possible and may reach out if additional verification is needed.
Step 3: TrustyFans Will Investigate
Once your report is submitted, our team will:
- Investigate the profile in question
- Temporarily suspend the impersonating account, if needed
- Take appropriate action if impersonation is confirmed
You’ll be kept informed throughout the process.
What Happens to the Impersonator?
If we confirm that someone is impersonating you:
- Their account may be immediately removed
- They may be banned from creating future accounts
- Any associated content will be permanently taken down
We have zero tolerance for impersonation. Our priority is protecting creators and fans from deception.
What If Someone Stole My Content (But Isn’t Pretending to Be Me)?
If someone has posted your original content (photos, videos, or written materials) but isn’t necessarily claiming to be you, this may fall under copyright infringement.
In those cases, you should submit a DMCA Takedown Request.
How to submit a DMCA claim:
- Go to trustyfans.com/contact-us
- From the dropdown, select “DMCA Takedown Request”
- Include:
- A link to the stolen content
- A description of what was copied
- Proof that you are the original creator
If you're unsure whether your situation is impersonation or DMCA-related, select the option that seems closest and we’ll guide you from there.
Protecting Yourself Moving Forward
While TrustyFans is committed to keeping the platform safe, there are proactive steps you can take to protect your identity and content:
- Link your official TrustyFans profile on your social media bios, paid platforms, and content sites - this helps fans easily confirm which profile is truly yours
- Watermark your content with your TrustyFans handle or username before posting it anywhere online. This helps establish ownership and discourages content theft
- Use a consistent profile image and branding across platforms to help fans recognize you
- Regularly monitor search results or reverse image search to spot potential impersonators early
- Report suspicious profiles promptly so our team can take action before damage is done
By staying consistent and visible, you reduce confusion and build trust with your audience - while making it harder for impersonators to succeed.
